Routes from Fuqing
A family oral-history archive shaped by leaving, waiting, returning, and beginning again.
根
Fuqing appears on a map as a single place. In family memory, it is also a point from which lines extend: to Japan, Algeria, Ecuador, Argentina, and the United States.
The interviews ask what those lines cost, what they made possible, and how migration looks to the people who waited as well as those who left.
This is not a search for one inherited spirit. It is an attempt to preserve the contradictions from which identity is actually made.
ARCHIVE NOTE
This is a representative first edition. Replace it with the complete work whenever it is ready; the address and design will stay the same.
