Algeria, After 2006

The first move came in 2006, amid narrowing opportunities and fierce competition at home. Friends abroad made Algeria imaginable; relative safety and policy made it plausible.

What followed was not one migration story but several: the entrepreneur who stayed, the spouse who built a life across countries, and children for whom return meant another beginning.
